Terms of Service

By using SiliconAcademia ("we", "us", "our"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

1. The Service​

SiliconAcademia provides free educational content covering the chip-design flow (digital design, Verilog/SystemVerilog, logic synthesis, testbench/UVM verification, UPF) and a quiz engine to help you test your understanding. Creating an account is optional and lets you sync quiz progress across devices, and earn streaks and badges.

2. Accounts​

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information at signup, and let us know right away if you believe your account has been compromised. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, including using automated tools to abuse quiz-submission or account-signup endpoints.

3. Acceptable Use​

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to bypass, spoof, or abuse the site's authentication, rate-limiting, or quiz-scoring systems.
  • Scrape, mass-download, or redistribute the quiz question bank or course content without permission.
  • Use another person's account without authorization, or impersonate another person in your display name.
  • Use the site to upload or transmit anything unlawful, infringing, or harmful.

4. Leaderboard and Display Names​

If you opt into the public leaderboard, your chosen display name and quiz scores become publicly visible. Don't use a display name that impersonates someone else, is offensive, or infringes another person's rights. We may remove a display name or disable leaderboard participation that violates this.

5. Chips (Quiz Credits)​

Quizzes run on "Chips," a virtual, non-transferable credit spent per quiz attempt — every account starts with 5 free Chips, and course content itself is always free to read (see Pricing for current Chip costs). Purchasing additional Chips is not live yet — the Chip packages shown on the Pricing page are not currently purchasable (any "Buy" action is disabled/"Coming Soon"), so no payment is processed today and this section does not yet need to describe a refund or cancellation policy. Once Chip purchases go live, this section will be updated before launch with the applicable payment terms, including any refund/cancellation policy — check the "Last updated" date above for the most current version.

6. Content Ownership​

The course content, quiz questions, and site design are owned by SiliconAcademia and its contributors and may not be copied, redistributed, or used to train other products without permission. You retain ownership of any content you submit (such as your display name), and grant us a license to display it as part of the features you opt into (e.g., the leaderboard).

7. No Warranty​

The site and its content are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. While we aim for technical accuracy, chip-design practices and tooling evolve — always verify critical information against current, authoritative sources (datasheets, standards documents, your tools' documentation) before relying on it professionally.

8. Limitation of Liability​

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SiliconAcademia is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, including reliance on its educational content or loss of quiz progress data.

9. Account Termination​

You may delete your account at any time from your Account page (see our Privacy Policy for what this does to your data). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including the Acceptable Use rules in Section 3.

10. Changes to These Terms​

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

SiliconAcademia is operated as a sole proprietorship by Md Kamrul Islam and Jabid Asraf ("we", "us", "our"). No separate company has been incorporated to operate the site. These terms, and any dispute arising from your use of the site, are governed by the laws of Ireland, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, and any legal proceedings will be brought in the courts of Ireland.
